Fairport Baptist Homes and Paul A. Vick are proud to bestow this year’s award to the late Suzanne Hagen, who served on the Foundation board beginning in 2012; was an active volunteer, particularly at the annual “Swing for Seniors” golf tournament; and, along with her husband, Dr. C. Richard Hagen, was a generous donor to the Foundation and the Homes for many years.
In 2011, the Fairport Baptist Homes Foundation created the Paul A. Vick Philanthropy Award to honor individuals, families or corporations whose long-term or lifelong philanthropic support to Fairport Baptist Homes exemplifies their commitment and dedication toward furthering the mission and goals of Fairport Baptist Homes and the Foundation.
The Philanthropy Award is named in honor of Paul A. Vick, Baptist minister, local attorney, and long-time Chair of the Board of Directors of the Fairport Baptist Homes Foundation, who led the Foundation through its early years. Suzanne had some very special connections to the home, beyond her own involvement: her aunt, Lois Alhart, was a resident here for a number of years, and she was also close friends with another resident, Dotty Alexander, a former neighbor whose daughter babysat for Suzanne’s three boys when they were young.
We mourn Suzanne’s passing this past May, and honor her memory by bestowing the highest award the FBH Foundation can give. We hope this gesture will provide some measure of comfort for her family as they cope with the loss of a beloved wife, mother, and friend.
