Skilled Nursing
Alvin C. Foster Residential Health Care Facility
Since its founding more than 100 years ago, Fairport Baptist Homes has remained true to its mission—to serve the aging who have shaped our heritage. A familiar landmark situated at the top of the hill just north of the Village of Fairport, Fairport Baptist Homes provides skilled nursing care, rehabilitation, and comfort care in a 142-bed facility composed of individual household units consisting of 10, or 12 residents each.
Our household model makes us unique among skilled nursing facilities in Monroe County.
In 1997, Fairport Baptist Homes instituted “culture change” and adopted the Pioneer Model abandoned the long hallways and noise of paging systems, carts, and equipment designed for the ease of caregivers, and embraced a new concept in long term care—offering design and service such as you’d find in the comfort of your own home.
Each household offers a traditional homelike environment, with bedrooms flanking a central family-style country kitchen and living/dining area. Residents maintain control over their daily schedules, including eating, bathing, and activities, and can remain as independent or as involved as they choose. Residents are encouraged to participate in daily decision-making about their care options, allowing them to maintain their dignity and independence.
Admission is open to all, regardless of faith, age, race, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, or source of payment. Payment mechanisms include private pay, Medicaid, Medicare, and long term care insurance.
Our skilled nursing facility offers a homelike environment with resident-directed care and a variety of social, recreational, and daily activities. Residents can bring furnishings from home and, with the consent of other household members, their own pets that they care for. There is an in-house pharmacy, beauty salon and barber shop, gift shop, and three meals every day offered in a family dining setting.
