Fairports Apartments Are Being Renovated

The Fairport Apartments located on the campus of Fairport Baptist Homes are undergoing a much needed renovation, including updating all of the apartments to come into ADA compliance, adding a lift (not full elevator), call systems, new windows, and pitched roofs. The exteriors are getting a face lift with vinyl siding. . The developer is Rochester’s Cornerstone Group, Le Cesse is the construction company. Some tenants have already been moved back in to their newly-renovated one-bedroom apartments. The renovation, begun in October 2011, is expected to be completed by Fall 2012. Fairport Apartments are designed to serve a population which has 50% of the area’s median income or less, approximately $27,000 annually for a couple and $23,000 for an individual renter. For more information, please contact Erin Withey at (585) 377-6560. There are limited apartment rentals currently available.

New Networking Group

We had the first meeting of a new group called Corporate Associates. This is a networking group for individuals who share at least a loose affiliation with Fairport Baptist Homes, primarily through the “Swing for Seniors” Golf Classic, who meet on a regular basis to share information and business ideas. Chaired by Sean Phillips, Account Manager with Airgas Corporation and a FBHCM Foundation Board Member and active participant in the 2011 Golf Classic, this group meets on the third Thursday of most months at 7:30 AM in a variety of venues. Each month they hear a brief presentation from members and share networking ideas.

The speaker at our first meeting was Jon Alhart, PR Supervisor at Dixon Schwabl, who spoke about the benefits of adding social media to your business’ marketing plan.

Call Ellen Bevan, 388-2324, or email Ellen at ebevan@fchcm.org, or contact Sean Phillips, sean.phillips@airgas.com for more information or to join the group.

Naming Ceremony

On Friday, December 3, the Assisted Living Community at Fairport Baptist Homes was formally named the Reverend E. Brokaw Assisted Living Community,  a tribute to Rev. Brokaw’s visionary ministry with Fairport Baptist Homes, which spans more than thirty years. Reverend Brokaw became FBH’s Chaplain in 1980, creating new models for pastoral, end-of-life, and dementia care and advocating strongly for continuing staff education.  After serving as Administrator for Resident Services, in 1990 he was named his current position as President/CEO.
