Mansura Malik, DNP, FNP,BSN, RN and Clinical Administrator at Fairport Baptist Homes published “Education and Training in End-of-Life Care for Certified Nursing Assistants in Long Term Care” in the Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing Volume 48.
This article was co- authored by Wendy Chapman, BSN, RN of Lifetime Care and highlights the need for education and training for CNA’s working in long term care so they can provide care for residents and families facing end-of-life.
The Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing is a monthly peer-reviewed journal publishing original articles on continuing nursing education that are directed toward continuing education and staff development professionals, nurse administrators, and nurse educators in all health care settings.
Dr. Malik and Ms. Chapman set out to improve patient care by adding training in end-of-life care to LTC staff curriculum. Since beginning a pilot program at Fairport Baptist Homes the program has been presented at seminars and conferences here and abroad and Dr. Malik was recently invited to Japan and China to present the program to health care professionals.
