“Framing the Future”

Fairport Baptist Homes’ newest senior housing project is the redesign FBH’s North wing residential units, “rightsizing” Fairport Baptist Homes’ Alvin C. Foster Residential Health Care Facility.  The project includes permanently decertifying 54 skilled nursing beds and replacing them with 33 one-bedroom assisted living apartments which, like FBH’s skilled nursing units, embrace FBH’s Pioneer household model of care, the only assisted living program in Monroe County to do so.  It is also unique in being the only assisted living community in New York State to be located within the same building as a skilled nursing community.

FBH’s assisted living community is targeted at older persons of modest means—those individuals who can no longer live safely alone and who qualify for assisted living, but who may not be able to afford the other private assisted living options now available locally.  This adult care community, now open to the public, has 11 “ALP” (Assisted Living Program) beds, available for individuals who qualify for Medicaid reimbursement. To learn more about becoming a resident of FBH’s assisted living community, contact Sue Pierce at (585) 388-2307.

Fairport Baptist Homes received two grant awards from New York State totaling $6,242,196 for the project—HEAL  NY (Health Care Efficiency and Affordability Law for New Yorkers) and RHCF (Residential Health Care Facility) “Rightsizing” Grants—covering almost 70% of the renovation costs.  HEAL NY funds assist with the outstanding mortgage debt on the decertified 54-bed unit and “Rightsizing” funds assist with the cost of the reconstruction and renovations to the living space.

A capital campaign entitled “Framing the Future” seeks to raise part of the remaining 30% of the costs for this project.  To contribute to “Framing the Future,” contact Ellen Bevan at (585) 388-2324.
